Why "En"?名前の由来

En (縁) — the invisible thread that ties people and places together.縁 —— 人と場所を結ぶ、見えない糸。

In Japanese, en is the word for a meaningful connection you never planned — meeting the right person, finding the right place, at the right moment. It can't be bought or scheduled; it simply happens, and you remember it for years.縁とは、狙って出会えるものではない巡り合わせのこと。ふとした偶然が、何年も残るつながりになる——日本人はそれを「ご縁」と呼んできました。

We named this house En with one hope: that a few nights here become that kind of thread — between you and this old house, the shopkeepers in the arcade, the neighbors at the bathhouse.この家での数日が、あなたとこの古い家、商店街の店主、銭湯のご近所さんとの小さなご縁になりますように。そんな願いを屋号に込めました。

一 · 土間

The doma — a hall built for arrivals広い土間は、旅支度のための場所

Every old Japanese home began with a doma: a stone-floored room between the street and the living space. There's a table to spread your suitcase open, room to park a stroller as-is, and a bench to sit on while you lace your shoes and plan the day.通りと暮らしのあいだにある、石床の土間。スーツケースを広げられる机を置きました。ベビーカーもそのまま停められます。ベンチで靴ひもを結びながら、今日の予定をどうぞ。

二 · 和室と寝具

Upstairs are two rooms: a tatami room with a paper lantern, and a western room papered in genuine retro patterns. A blind divides them when two groups want their own space. Beds and futon bedding sleep up to 5.2階は、提灯の灯る和室と、レトロ壁紙の洋室のふた間。ブラインドで仕切れるので、グループでもプライベートを保てます。ベッドと布団で最大5名までお休みいただけます。

三 · 玩具

Folk toys on the display shelf飾り棚の、郷土玩具たち

On the shelf sit a daruma doll, a kaleidoscope, beanbags and a kendama — the old Japanese toys a grandmother keeps. Pick one up, give it a try, and you've touched a way of playing older than this house. Retro wallpaper, a paper lantern, these little playful things in every room — the kind you won't find in a hotel.飾り棚にならぶのは、だるまに万華鏡、お手玉やけん玉。おばあちゃんの家にありそうな、昔ながらの遊び道具たちです。手に取って遊んでみれば、この家よりも古い時間に触れることになります。レトロ柄の壁紙や行灯とともに、ホテルにはない小さな遊び心を部屋のあちこちに残しました。

The Town · Kyobashiまちのこと · 京橋

Not a tourist district. Better.観光地ではありません。それがいい。

Kyobashi is where Osaka actually lives — standing bars, croquette shops, a covered arcade that hasn't changed since the Showa era. You'll buy fruit at the supermarket, soak at the bathhouse, and still reach Kyoto on one train.京橋は、大阪の人がほんとうに暮らしている街。立ち飲み、コロッケ、昭和のままのアーケード。スーパーで果物を買い、銭湯で湯に浸かり、それでも京都へは電車一本で行けます。
